All local fire departments (that I'm aware of) recommend evacuating your home above 9 ppm  (parts per million) of Carbon Monoxide (CO).   A standard CO detector cannot provide a displayed value below 30ppm and cannot alarm below 70ppm by build requirements.

This is a low level carbon monoxide detector that will alert you and your family of lower levels of carbon monoxide. It is the Defender LL6170. This reading is indicating 11 ppm and was caused by use of a gas oven for 30 min.

Starting at $160

This is the form several of our local fire departments use with the city covered per their request.  All cities I've seen recommend evacuating your home at 10ppm.

These are the spec's for a standard carbon monoxide detector.  They cannot display until 30ppm and cannot alarm below 70ppm for 30 days.

These are the spec's for the Defender low level CO detector we recommend. It starts displaying at 5ppm, visually alerting at 9ppm, and audibly alerts at 15ppm.
